Brothers’ Coast 2 Coast challenge

BROTHERS Fraser and Tom Stillie needed great  sense of purpose and determination when they joined their parents in undertaking the arduous 130-mile Coast to Coast cycle.

Year 10 Tom and Fraser, in Year 8, completed the challenging route from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Sunderland in just three days, cycling 36 miles on day one and then 50 miles on each of days two and three.

The brothers, in Oak House, encountered many hills on the journey, including  the highest A road in England which they had to conquer at the end of a punishing second day, but showed courage and professionalism throughout.

CLW choir perform for U3A

MEMBERS of Carlton le Willows choir show real professionalism as they perform in front of the University of the Third Age (U3A).

U3A members packed into the Richard Herrod Centre to hear our choir sing, along with fiddles and flutes, at today’s event.

A very proud moment for head of music Mr Young – and one of many events talented CLW musicians have coming up over the next few weeks.

Double victory for Year 9 footballers

YEAR 9 footballers have shown determination, sense of purpose and professionalism during the season, bringing back not one, but two trophies to Carlton le Willows Academy.

The team brought home the County Cup after victory over West Bridgford School in the final at the Poplars sports ground just last night.

And that accolade followed a triumphant evening at the City Ground – where they beat that same West Bridgford team to bring home the prestigious Forest Vase trophy.

This year’s final at the City Ground saw history in the making with Carlton le Willows one of just a few schools to ever have teams in both the Vase and the Forest Bowl competitions, with Year 10 boys eventually named runners-up in the Bowl final.
