STUDENTS, parents, staff and governors gathered for the Carlton le Willows Certificates Evening – the chance to celebrate the determination, professionalism, courage and optimism shown by students in GCSE and A level exams this year.
All students collect their exam certificates at the annual event, which also sees a host of awards presented in recognition of individual achievement.
Guest speaker, polar explorer Fiona Thornewill MBE delighted the audience as she spoke about the challenges she faced on her expeditions to become not only the first British woman to ski solo to the South Pole, but also the fastest person ever to reach the South Pole – a feat she achieved in a record 42 days.
Among those students to be honoured and accept an award, presented by Fiona, were Liam Redwood, who won the Stuart Foulds Memorial Prize for Sport; Alexander Todd who won the Key Stage 5 Achievement Award and Connor Fowler who accepted the Key Stage 4 Achievement Award.
Joshua Garwood was resented with the Special Award for Service to the Academy, Amy Lawlor picked up the Torr Family Aspire Award and Aadil Kahn was presented with the very first Bob Martin Student of the Year Award.
Congratulations to all our dedicated students for their phenomenal efforts this year!
